Born and raised in Australia, Jim has a B.A. with Honours from the
University of Sydney. He brings a unique perspective to his practice
with a strong background in sport as well as professional acting,
the latter which took him to New York City for 11 years.
At the end of 2012 Jim moved to Germany with his wife and two young
daughters and now resides in Pullach on the outskirts of Munich
(together with the latest four-legged family member).
Jim and The Feldenkrais Method®
Jim began practicing the Feldenkrais Method® in 1999 to help him deal with debilitating back pain. His involvement with the Method enabled him to continue competitive sporting activities. He also experienced the benefits of the Method as a performing artist. His voice was consistently more resonant and he was more grounded and present on stage.
Jim quickly became more and more invested in the Method and he trained for 4 years at the Feldenkrais Institute of New York under the tutelage of David Zemach-Bersin as well as many other Feldenkrais trainers who were pupils of Dr. Feldenkrais over many years.
Jim taught Awareness Through Movement® classes with the Parks and Recreation Department of New York City as part of its "Shape Up NYC" program. He also taught classes at the Feldenkrais Institute, the hub for Feldenkrais training in New York. Other groups he has taught include actors at Circle in the Square Theatre School on Broadway and dancers at Merce Cunningham Dance Studios. He also ran a private practice in Park Slope, Brooklyn giving Functional Integration® lessons.
Now in Munich, Jim teaches private and group lessons as well as Workshops and Seminars in Solln, in Pullach as well as Online. He also taught the employees of Allianz SE for a couple of years in Königinstraße).
Jim is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner (GCFP) and member of the FVD (Feldenkrais-Verband Deutschland).
